Cindy Li visited the Brighton Girl Geek at the Werks on Friday to give a talk about illustration as a solution to corporate and personalised websites. Being a fan of illustration (and still trying to get to grips with illustrator) I went along to see what I could learn. Cindy talked us through her work for ma.gnolia, which you can see on her flickr profile and gave some great examples of illustration at play in corporate website, such as Joyent. I’ve been thinking of trying to incorporate some illustration into the redesign of www.brighton.co.uk, won’t be a patch on anything Cindy could do but will give it a go, it will have to be used carefully (and subtley) due to the large amount of content.

…must be something to do with the loops going on for ever, infinity and all that - if you want to get deep about it. But they’re also just really easy to create in Illustrator for use as textures and backgrounds in your graphics.
